The Arctic Convoy 2027

Open to all vehicles not just 4x4's!
January 2026 saw over 70 vehicles set off to tackle the ice and snow in The Arctic Circle.
For 2027 we have a whole new route, even more off road sections, bigger check points and of course an epic atmosphere as we tackle Scandinavia to reach the most northern point in Europe!
We will be crossing frozen seas and rivers, camping in the wilderness, driving 5000 miles, over ice covered roads and spending hour after hour shovelling snow (if you want to tackle the deep stuff!).
What I can promise:
It’s going to be cold, very VERY cold.
You'll have a high chance of your vehicle breaking down.
You’ll consume more hotdogs than you think is possible!
You’ll regret not going!
Details:
Departing from Hull, on the Hull - Rotterdam ferry with P&O at 2030 on Friday 15th January 2027.
We will then drive to the North of Denmark and take a second ferry from Hirtshals (Denmark) to Larvik (Norway) on Sunday 17th January.
The rest of the route we update as we get closer!
Expected mileage is 5000 miles.
We will be using a mixture of wild camps and campsites.
The trip will be around 15 days (I recommend being a bit flexible with your return date for when the muck hits the fan!)
What Tyres?
Legally, you must have tyres which hold a 3PMSF rating also known as 3 Peaks winter tyre, but, even these are slippy on the ice covered roads of Scandinavia, for the ultimate grip we recommend studded tyres whilst on the ice.
Can I join for just part of the Convoy?
Yes, it's free to join and make of it what you want.
What diesel heater do you recommend?
Diesel heaters come in all shapes and sizes, to fit a whole host of budgets. We use the Amazon diesel heaters (circa £100), we do recommend taking a second as a back up.

The Arctic Convoy is a free to join convoy hosted by The Orange Defender. It was started after I broke down in The Arctic, my rocker shaft had snapped. Whilst I was as prepared as I could be, being alone in those conditions stood next to a powerless Land Rover Defender; I would have given the world to have company, even just for moral support!
So, I started The Arctic Convoy, with the premise that it would be open to everyone, and, would encourage the inexperienced and experienced alike to come together and build a community of overlanders, tackling the harshest environment in Europe, together.
The Arctic Convoy is free to join, and designed to encourage as many people as possible to venture further, I would like to keep it that way. You can support the The Arctic Convoy in many ways, from watching the videos to becoming a subscriber-member.
